Believe it or not, I’m not one of those girls constantly attracted to bad boys. True, I like them a little scruffy, a little haughty, with some edge. But I don’t swoon at the first sight of a motorcycle, or a whiff of a leather jacket. But there’s something about Jonathan Rhys Meyers, isn’t there? He’s a bad boy, but he’s also got that vulnerable puppy thing going on. After all of his crazy drunken shenanigans, you’d think that most people would write him off. But it’s been nearly a year since his third rehab stay, after which he stayed relatively sober enough to film this movie he’s now promoting, From Paris With Love, and after which Meyers promptly got into a drunken brawl at an airport last June. So… still crazy/drunk, probably. And yet… it agrees with him.

Sidenote: He loves Dunkin Donuts! And he visit’s the Dunkin himself! I wonder what kind of magical donut he goes for. Something with sprinkles, I bet. By the way, that girl with him is his girlfriend, Reena Hammer. You know she probably puts up with a lot of stuff. But she gets to see his vulnerable puppy side too. Sigh…

Anyway, this film, From Paris With Love. It looks like a turd, doesn’t it? And not even because of Meyers! He looks okay in the trailer. It’s just John Travolta’s Village People-look that scares me. I’ve been looking for a good interview with Meyers, but I can’t find much. The film seems to be about Meyers protecting a suitcase full of cocaine, and Travolta’s character is protecting Meyers, I think. Meyers talked about the cocaine in glowing terms: “I accidentally dropped it, running on those steel stairs! I dropped the vase, and I went, “Oh f-ck, the coke!” I had to go all the way back up and do that scene again. The vase became a teddy bear, a blanket, to me, and I felt sad when I had to drop it for the other scene, because it had been my buddy, protecting me from the whole world, this vase of marching powder.” Um… yeah. He’s still messed up. Bless his heart.
